Last Sunday morning was one of the most eagerly awaited moments at NOX. At last, Gemma Triay and Lucía Sainz took revenge against Mapi and Majo Sánchez Alayeto, who had won in the last match played between both pairings. Our great women´s duo was prepared to fight tooth and nail in order to snatch victory from the twins, and they certainly didn´t disappoint!
The two first sets were very close, the first was won by the NOX pairing by 6-4, the same result attained by the Alayeto sisters in the second, which meant that the frenetic final was settled in the third set thanks to small details. In the seventh play of the last part, Triay and Sainz gained total control to break the serve of the Alayeto sisters and thus win the final set 6-3.
Gemma Triay and Lucía Sainz thus obtained their third title of the season, thanks to which they are now hot on the heels of the Alayeto sisters, who are currently ranked first in the world. This victory only serves to further cement the unbeatable run of one of the most outstanding pairings in women´s padel.
